About the Award
Roy Burrell was a former sports master and Deputy Head teacher at Chesterton School, who died in 1955 at the age of 49. He was one of the best-known sporting men in Cambridge, and as part of his will he left a sum of money in trust to provide awards for the most talented young sportsmen and women in the Cambridge District. From very small beginnings these awards have grown and now annually pay tribute to our finest young performers.
