Hemingfords Lawn Tennis Club enters new era with court resurfacing and floodlight installation
After more than five years of planning and hard work -interrupted by the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic - Hemingfords Lawn Tennis Club has successfully completed the resurfacing of its courts and installed state-of-the-art floodlights. This long-awaited project, funded by a combination of a generous grant from the Thalia WB Community Fund * and an interest-free loan from Cambridgeshire LTA, promises to significantly enhance the experience for both members and visitors.
The resurfacing ensures a smoother, more consistent playing surface, reducing wear and tear on players’ joints while enhancing the quality of the game. The new courts are designed to improve playability across different weather conditions, allowing the club to stay active year-round. Coupled with the addition of floodlights, members and visitors will now have the flexibility to play into the evening, making it easier for those with busy schedules to enjoy the sport.
These improvements are set to elevate the club’s competitive scene. The floodlights, in particular, open up the possibility for night-time competitions. The enhanced facilities will attract both local and regional players and allow more coaching opportunities year-round, particularly involving our junior community.
Additionally, the upgrades are expected to boost participation and membership, as the club now offers modern, year-round amenities that cater to players of all skill levels. The investment in the club’s infrastructure demonstrates a commitment to fostering a vibrant tennis community, encouraging newcomers to take up the sport and giving current members an elevated playing experience.
This project marks a bright new chapter for the tennis club, positioning it for continued growth and success in the years to come.
