Girls Starter Matchplay Report

Following the success of the Girls 9&U Fun Day back in November 2024, Huntington Tennis Club hosted an 8&U Girls starter match play event on Saturday 11th January and 9&U girls starter match play event the following weekend. 

It was great to see players from 6 different clubs from across the county attend.

The day kicked off with fun team warm up games, definitely needed with temperatures hovering around 0 degrees! Following a demonstration of a tie break match, where the girls got to learn the rules and how to score. With the help of our tennis leaders, Sophia, Luca, Caitlin and Bernie the girls put into practice what they'd learnt, by playing some match tie breaks against each other. The afternoon finished with some organise chaos in the form of a group game. 

With the match results gathered were uploaded to the LTA website, for them to view on their online profile, it is a great start to the player's tennis journey and hopefully many more matches to come!

There was some fantastic feedback from the day that the girls really enjoyed the session being just girls and that it was a less intimidating start to learn and understand how to play the game of tennis. 

We are delighted to say there will be more events for Girls, like these, coming up in 2025, so watch this space!
