Geraldine Booth Trophy Winners Announced
During our recent AGM and LTA Tennis Awards, two of our outstanding Junior County tennis players were presented with the Geraldine Booth Trophy which was first presented in 2004. It is an 18 and under award in recognition of players who have contributed and supported the County over a period of time.
Congratulations to Christof Schaertlin Coffey and Isabelle Harvard on winning this. Both players have represented the County through the age groups and this year played in both the 18 and under and senior teams for the County.
This award is presented in memory of Geraldine Booth, an active supporter of Cambs tennis who sadly died of a brain tumour. Geraldine had two sons, Richard and James, who played tennis for Cambridgeshire for many years. Following her death, the boys wanted to present something to the County in her memory. Geraldine was a great supporter of her sons’ tennis and also Cambridgeshire County Tennis.
We were honoured to have James Booth attend the evening to present the awards to Christof and Isabelle.
Isabelle is ranked 1 at 18 and under level and also 1 in the senior level in Cambridgeshire. She has played for Cambridgeshire in all the age groups and been a stalwart of the County teams for many years. She played for the 18 and under team recently and also in the winter and summer Senior County Cup teams and is a great member of the team and thoroughly deserves this award.
Christof is ranked 2 in the 18 and under age group in Cambridgeshire, 42 in the country and 6th in the County men’s team. He too has represented Cambridgeshire in both the 18 and under winning boys team who recently got promoted to group 2 and also in the men’s winter County Cup team. He is currently playing lots of ITF events and British Tour events. He is a real ambassador to the county and real inspiration to the younger players.
Congratulations to both, who thoroughly deserved their awards.
